NYC Apt, Take II
| I’ll have to remember the packing tip I just saw today when I move to my new place on the 15th. It’s been a stressful time, looking at all manner of apartments with strange situations: living rooms with massive support columns in the middle, a kitchen sink with a linoleum top from the 50’s or before, sleeping lofts with beams that assault the skull, walking up 5 floors into a space that may as well have been a shortened bowling lane. There is the temptation to apply packing tape to the heads of local landlords. “You want how much for that!? Are you joking!?” |
Lease in hand. Off to California, as I have no East Coast place to live until the 15th. Very relieved to have found something near 80th and Amsterdam. Although it’s driven my wife and I absolutely crazy, it looks like it was a good call to hang in there and find a good combo of apartment, neighborhood, and a very sane and down to earth landlord. The fun starts on the 15th or so, when we start from scratch (let’s see, I have some bedding, an air mattress, cookware, and… hmmm. that’s about it). It’ll be like camping at first!
