Like you, Chasing Amy was the first View Askew movie I saw. I remembered hearing about Clerks but thought "A modern indie movie in black and white has to suck." After I saw Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, did I go back and watch Clerks and Mallrats. It helps a little if you watch them in order (sorta, since Mallrats takes place the day before Clerks but was made after Clerks). If you get into the View Askewniverse as I have, you should check out Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash in Red Bank, NJ. You may also want to take a ride to Leonardo and go see the Quick Stop and RST Video (you'll know that they are after you see Clerks). If you get into it, check out the Clerks Animated Series too.
