Recommend A UPS?

UPS, as in Uninterruptible Power Supply …

Our power flickered off, then on this morning, which immediately made me think “Winter’s almost here, get a UPS”. I don’t know anything about them, other than there a few big brands such as APC and Belkin. It’s a long-shot, but if anyone reading this has a suggestion, let me know …

    I prefer professional UPSes, so I buy used Liebert GXT-1500’s (now discontinued) off eBay and buy new batteries for them (~$70). I’ve been able to score used GXT-1500’s for $150+shipping (they’re HEAVY — maybe another $60 for shipping!).

    No, they’re not cheap. But not all UPSes are created equal. I have a few APC UPSes for my consumer electronics — the TV, the stereo, DVD, the TiVo, etc. — but for my computer equipment, I don’t trust them. That’s where the Lieberts fit in.
