Some RL Photos now on exhibit in SL

I was recently asked to show some of my RL zoom blurs at a gallery in Second Life.  I am happy to say that they are up!

Go to : Creative Showcase @ The Learning Experience

The photos are culled from my 2006 “Blurred Realities” show.   A big thank you to Pammy Preez of SL, who encouraged me to show!

Two Digital Media People

I just noticed that Thomas Dolby is a bloggin’. Science! It’s good to get the look into the creative process. Check out his video clip from the TED Conference.

Over on the video and digital media side, check out What Alex Lindsay is doing. He’s leading up to a 1080p videocast called MacBreak. The first few episodes are wonderfully video geeked out, and I can’t claim to understand it all. It’s a subject that I wish I could take a year off and dive into. Alex is also doing a podcast called “This Week In Media”.

Two Pioneers!

Embarcabluro

Embarcabluro

Yes, it’s a real place. Not something out of a Charlton Heston movie. Actually, it’s what you see on New Year’s morning after drinking too much at the Hyatt Regency party.

So, quick story. Walking through downtown. Argentinian looks at me and says “it’s about the people man! Not the architecture!”. I know he’s Argentinian because he says “wait a sec”, dips into his car, and whips out an Argentinian hat. Damn insists that I snap his photo. So I do. It’s not worth posting, so you’ll have to just nod along. So, anyfrikkenway, I generally don’t do the urban stroller photography thing - I give them the privacy. Oh, wait.. wait. No, I lied there. Here’s one of a Harmonica Guy:

Union Square Zoom Blur, March 2006

“At The Center Of It All” - Union Square, March 2006

I coerced myself into getting to the City today to do some photos, as in the Urban Zoom Blur thing. It’s been a while. This one lept out at me. The zoom leads to what’s really important in life (no, not tequila), so that hit me the right way. I’ll have others on Flickr or FlexiPhoto as soon as I go through them.

NetToberFest Wiki

The NetToberFest Wiki is up. You can IM me for the password to update. It’s a word that likes to party.

The Wiki is sort of overkill for a 12 hour party. The party is a warm-up event that I can see expanding (rent a hall, more space & people) in the future. I’ll need a fair bit of help just to pull off this small scale adventure; hence the Wiki!

Rev ‘Em Up and Shoot ‘Em

Close Call for a Saleen in the Corkscrew

I looked at my camera this afternoon and realized it was talking to me.

“Take me to the track”

What?!

“Take me to the track! I want to take pictures again. I want to get dusty. I want to get into the paddock and see insanely fast cars”

What?!

“Oh man … c’mon. Let’s hit some races at Sears Point and Laguna Seca. It’s been frikken years man! I’m a camera, and you’ve got this zoom blur thing going. Let’s go man!”

(… looking at beer bottle suspiciously)

Ok, cool. That’s what we’ll do. It has been a while, I miss it, and I will be in California for most of the summer. Yeah. Yeah! Let’s get some groovy shots!

“What’s on, then? Where are we going?”

Well, let’s see …

“Oh boy! 5 races?! Gimme plenty of batteries and CF cards! And can we bring Susan’s Nikon D1x too?”

Hold your f-stops man. We’ll see. At least a couple of races, ok?

“snap snap!”

View From The Fountain

Lincoln Center is a fine place to hang out by the fountain and check out all of the comings and goings. A little oasis of open space in the midst of Busy Broadway. There are some very severe looking apartment buildings across the street.
